Doing it differently…

As part of the JISC IE evaluation project for the repositories strand, I attended an RSP (Repository Support Project) event last month titled “Doing it differently“. It was a really interesting event covering a variety of different ideas in repositories. We heard about:

  • the current situation of repositories and some things to look out for in future from Stephanie Taylor of UKOLN
  • some social networking additions to repositories from Richard Davis at ULCC
  • using RSS feeds to create a repository of learning objects (Xpert) from Pat Lockley at University of Nottingham (who bought along cakes!)
  • using a repository to represent non-textual research outputs from Stephanie Meece at University of the Arts London
  • using Mendeley to encourage repository deposit from Jason Hoyt at Mendeley
  • using WordPress for scholarly publishing from Joss Winn at University of Lincoln
  • using iTunesU at University of Nottingham from Sally Hanford

You can also see other reviews of the day from Jackie WickhamRichard Davis, Vicki McGarvey, Willow Fuchs and UKCoRR.
